aRivazhiya: Losing my consciousness,
mayalperuga: feeling more amd more dizzy,
uraiyumaRa: being unable to utter a word,
vizhisuzhala: with a spinning vision,
analaviya: with body heat declining rapidly and
malamozhuga: with an involuntary discharge of faeces, (laid up in my death-bed);
agalAdhE anaiyumanai arugiluRa: and without leaving my side, my mother and wife
veruviyazha: crying uncontrollably,
uRavumazha: and all relatives too sobbing,
azhalinigar maRali: God of death, as fierce as fire,
yenai azhaiyAdhE: is coming to take my life away. (To stop him and)
seRiyumiru vinai: (to destroy) my closely-knit karma (both good and bad deeds),
karaNa maruvupulan ozhiya: and to do away with my mind and sensory organs,
vuyar thiruvadiyil aNuga: I have to reach Your exalted, venerable feet.
varam aruLvAyE: Kindly grant me that boon!
sivanainigar: Equal in status to Sivan,
podhiyavarai munivan: was the sage from the Mount Pothikai (Agaththiyan);
aga magizha: he was elated when
iru sevikuLira: both his ears were filled with pleasure
iniyathamizh pagarvOnE: with Your teaching of sweet Tamil!

alarimadhi naduvan: The Sun, the Moon, Yaman (Death-God),
magapathi muLari: IndrA, Agni (Fire God),

madhalaithavazh udhadhiyidai: From the Great Sea in which ships sail
varutharaLa maNi: come to the shore a lot of pearls and gems
puLina maRaiyavuyar: which are hidden by the shoreline rising to a mount at
