* When Murugan incarnated as PANdiya King, Ugra Vazhudhi, there was an unprecedented famine in Madhurai. In order to bring gold from Mount Meru, the King went up to the mount and prayed. As the mount was not yielding the gold, the King became enraged and wielded his spear upon it and obtained gold. |
This song has been written in the Nayaka-Nayaki BhAva where the poet assumes the role of the foster-mother portraying the pangs of separation of the heroine from Lord Murugan. The moon, the music of yAzh, the roaring sea, the Love God and the flowery arrows are some of the sources which aggravate the agony of separation from the Lord. |
