தமிழ்த னைக்கரை காட்டிய ...... திறலோனே

......... சொல் விளக்கம் .........

சமய பத்தி வ்ருதாத்தனை நினையாதே ... மதக் கொள்கையில் உள்ள பக்தி பயனற்றது என்று நினைக்காமல்,

சரண பத்ம சிவார்ச்சனை தனைநாடி அமைய ... உன் திருவடித் தாமரையில் சிவார்ச்சனை செய்ய விரும்பிய யான்மனம் பொருந்தி நிலைத்திருக்க,

சற்குரு சாத்திர மொழிநூலால் ... சற்குரு மூலமாகவும், சாஸ்திர மொழி நூல்கள் மூலமாகவும்,

அருளெனக்கினிமேல் துணைதருவாயே ... நின்னருளை நீ எனக்கு இனிமேல் துணையாகத் தந்தருள்வாயாக.

உமைமுலைத்தரு பாற்கொடு அருள்கூறி ... உமையின் முலை தந்தருளிய பாலை உண்டதன் காரணமாக சிவபிரானின் திருவருளை (தேவாரப் பதிகங்களில்) கூறுவதையே

உரிய மெய்த்தவ மாக்கி ... தனக்கு (திருஞானசம்பந்தருக்கு*) உரிய உண்மைத் தவ ஒழுக்கமாகக் கொண்டு,

நல் உபதேசத் தமிழ்தனை ... நல்ல உபதேசங்களைக் கொண்ட தமிழ் தன்னை

கரை காட்டிய திறலோனே ... கரை கண்ட பராக்கிரமசாலியே,

சமணரைக்கழுவேற்றிய பெருமாளே. ... சமணர்களை (வாதில் வென்று) கழுவேற்றிய பெருமாளே.
