     பச்சை நிறமுகிலின் ...... மருகோனே

அத்தி முகவனழ குற்ற பெழைவயிற
     னப்ப மவரைபொரி ...... அவல்தேனும்

அப்பி யமுதுசெயு மொய்ப்ப னுதவஅட
     விக்குள் மறமகளை ...... யணைவோனே

முத்தி தருமுதல்வர் முக்க ணிறைவரொடு
     முற்று மறைமொழியை ...... மொழிவோனே

முட்ட வசுரர்கிளை கெட்டு முறியமுதல்
     வெட்டி யமர்பொருத ...... பெருமாளே.

தத் தனமும் அடிமை சுற்றமொடு புதல்வர் ... அந்தப் பொருளும், ஏவலாளர்களும், சுற்றத்தினரும், புதல்வர்களும்,

தக்க மனை இனமும் மனை வாழ்வும் ... தகுதியான மனைவியும், மனைவியைச் சார்ந்தவர்களும், இல்லற வாழ்வும் (ஆன இவைகளை)

தப்பு நிலைமை அணுகைக்கு வர ... இழக்கும் படியான நிலைமை குறுகி வர,

விரகு உதைக்கும் மயல் நினைவு குறுகா முன் ... அறிவைச் சிதைக்கும் புத்தி மாறாட்டம் (என்னை) அணுகி வருவதற்கு முன்,

பத்தி உடன் உருகி நித்தம் உனது அடிகள் ... பக்தியுடனே மனம் உருகி தினமும் உன்னுடைய திருவடிகளை

பற்றும் அருள் நினைவு தருவாயே ... பற்றக்கூடிய திருவருள் நினைவைத் தந்தருள்க.

பத்து முடி உருளுவித்த பகழியினர் ... (இராவணனுடைய) பத்து முடிகளையும் அறுத்துத் தள்ளிய அம்பைக் கொண்டவர்,

பச்சை நிற முகிலின் மருகோனே ... மேக நிறத்தினறான திருமாலின் மருகனே,

அத்தி முகவன் அழகு உற்ற பெழை வயிறன் ... யானை முகம் உடைய விநாயகன், அழகுள்ள பெட்டி போன்ற வயிற்றை உடையவன்,

அப்பம் அவரை பொரி அவல் தேனும் ... அப்பம் அவரை பொரி முதலியவற்றோடு தேனையும்

அப்பி அமுது செயும் மொய்ப்பன் உதவ ... தொப்பையில் நிரப்பி உண்ணும் வலிமையை உடையவன் உதவி செய்ய,

அடவிக்குள் மற மகளை அணைவோனே ... காட்டில் வேடப் பெண்ணாகிய வள்ளியை அணைபவனே,

முத்தி தரு முதல்வர் முக்கண் இறைவரோடு ... வீட்டுப் பேறு அளிக்கும் முதல்வரும், முக்கண்களை (சூரியன், சந்திரன், அக்கினி) உடைய இறைவருமாகிய சிவபெருமானுக்கு

முற்று (ம்) மறை மொழியை மொழிவோனே ... வேத மொழி முழுவதையும் உபதேசித்தவனே,

முட்ட அசுரர் கிளை கெட்டு முறிய ... அரக்கர் கூட்டம் முழுமையும் தோற்றுப் போய் அழிய

முதல் வெட்டி அமர் பொருத பெருமாளே. ... முன்பு வெட்டி, போர் செய்த பெருமாளே.

thaththanamum adimai sutramodu pudhalvar: That wealth, the servants, the relatives, the sons

thakka manaiyinamu manaivAzhvun: ideal wife, her relatives, the family life - and all such things

thappu nilaimai aNugaikku vara: will be slipping away from me very soon;

viragu dhaikku mayal ninaivu kuRugAmun: before disorientation takes over affecting my intellect,

baththi udan urugi niththam unadhadigaL patrum: I want to melt in complete devotion and hold on to Your hallowed feet everyday;

aruL ninaivu tharuvAyE: that steadfast thought can only be granted by You graciously.

paththu mudiyuruLu viththa pagazhiyinar: He had the powerful arrow that knocked down the ten heads of RavaNa;

pachchai niRamugilin marugOnE: His complexion is like an emerald-green cloud; You are the nephew of that Lord Vishnu!

aththi mukavan azhagutra pezhai vayiRan: He has an elephant's face and His belly is like an elegant box;

appam avaraipori aval thEnum appi amudhu seyu: His favourite dishes are appam (sweet ricecake), avarai (lentils) and aval (rice crispies) mixed with honey filling His belly;

moyppan udhava adavikkuL maRamagaLai aNaivOnE: that strong VinAyagAn helped You to woo VaLLi, the damsel of the hunters, in the forest and to embrace her.

muththi tharu mudhalvar mukkaN iRaivarodu: He is the Premier Lord who grants eternal bliss; He has three eyes (the sun, the moon and fire);

mutru maRaimozhiyai mozhivOnE: to that Lord SivA, You explained fully the meaning of the VEda ManthrA!

mutta asurarkiLai kettu muRiya: The entire clan of the demons was defeated and destroyed
