niNamodu kuruthi narampu mARiya thasai: The muscles, combined with flesh, blood and nerves,
kudal midaiyum elumpu thOlivai: the intestines, closely-packed bones and the skin
nirainirai seRiyu mudampu: are all arranged closely within this body.
nOypadu muthukAyam: This old body is susceptible to be infected with diseases.
nilainilai yuruva malanga LAvathu: At various stages of life, this body takes different shapes and is inflicted with contaminations.
navathoLai yudaiya kurampai yAmithil: While in this little cottage of the body with nine portals
nikazhtharu pozhuthil: life is still sustained,
muyanRu mAdhavam u(y)ya Orum uNarvili: I do not have the inclination to attempt great penance for my salvation.
sepamutha lonRu thAnili: I do not have the virtues like meditation.
