ArAdhanar Adambaraththu: In the ostentatious ways people make their offerings during worship,

mARAdhu savAlam banaththum: in their continuous and obsessive meditations,

mAvAgana mA manthi raththu madalAlum: in the various yantras (metal sheets) upon which the deities are invoked,

ARArdhesa mAmaNda paththum: in the grand display of the prayer hall with sixteen stone pillars,

vEdhAgama mOdhun thalaththum: in then loud chanting of the VEdAs and AgamAs

AmAReri dhAmin dhanaththu maruLAdhE: in the heaps of pyres (samiththu) offered to burn in the sacrifices - in none of these You are awestruck or carried away.

neerALaga neerman janaththa: You are delighted to bathe in the abundant tears of ecstasy (from Your devotees)!

needAraga vEdhaNda maththa: You are elated at the chanting of the primordial PraNava ManthrA, OM!

neenAnaRa vERindri niRka: In order that the concept of You and Me (as duality-dwaitham) is gone and Oneness (adhwaitham) is achieved,

vErmAmara mUlan thaRiththu: the mango tree, in which SUran disguised himself, was uprooted;

vadavAlum vArAgaram Ezhum kudiththu: the vadavAgni* and the seven seas were completely swallowed;

mAsUrOdu pOram baRuththu: in the battle with mighty SUran, all his arrows were chopped;

vANAsana mElun thuNiththa kadhirvElA: and, in addition, his bow, the source of the arrows, was lanced by Your dazzling Spear!
