kaL kAma krOthaththE kaN seemizhththOrkatkuk kavi pAdi: I have been singing songs praising those who are drunkards, amorous and given to fits of temper;

kacchA picchAkath thAviththu AraththE ak kotkaLai neeLak koLkAl: my incoherent songs establishing the greatness of the people on whom the songs were sung yielded plenty of riches which I have been gathering for a long time;

akkOlak kONaththE ittu Asaip pattidavE vai koL thAnakku UnukkA eyththEn iththeethu aththaik kaLaivAyE: all that money was frittered away because of my obsession with the female genital shaped like a beautiful triangle; I grew weaker seeking that kind of money and spending it for the sake of my body; kindly bless me by getting rid of this evil in me!

vetkAmal pAy sutRu Umars sEr vikkAnaththaith thari mARan veppu ARap pAdik kAzhikkE pukkAy: Those samaNAs shamelessly wrapped around their body the mat made of grass; because of his evil association with those stupid samaNAs, King PANdiyan developed a fever; to remit that fever, You sang the hymn (ManthiramAvathu neeru), coming as ThirugnAna Sambandhar of SeekAzhi, Oh Lord!

veRpil kuRamAnai muL kAnil kAl vaiththu Odip pOy muRsAr secchaip puya veerA: In VaLLimalai, You ran treading the path full of thorns pricking Your feet to see VaLLi, the damsel of the KuRavAs, and hugged her in the field of millet, Oh Valorous One wearing the garland of vetchi flowers!
