* SeegAzhi is 11 miles south of Chidhambaram.
It is the place of birth of one of the Saivite Quartets, ThirugnAna SambandhAr.

The other names for SeekAzhi are as follows:

1. vENupuram: The shrine where Indra named VENu worshipped to overcome his fear of a demon, Gajamuka.
2. Thiruppukali: It is the place of refuge for the celestials who were terrified by the demon SUran.
3. Venguru: It is the shrine where Brahaspathi (Jupiter) worshipped.
4. PUntharAy: It is the shrine where Earth and ThArai worshipped.
5. Sirapuram: When the nectar was distributed by Lord VishNu to the celestials, Rahu and KEthu stealthily came as DEvAs and were beheaded by VishNu; at this shrine, they worshipped and got their heads back.
6. PuRavam: At this shrine a sage PrajApathi came in the disguise of a pigeon and offered his flesh as a sacrifice to save the king.
7. SaNpai: Sage DurvAsA, kinown as Sanpaimuni, worshipped at this shrine.
8. SeekAzhi: A serpent named KALi worshipped at this shrine.
9. Kocchai: Sage ParAsara was cursed by other sages and developed a stench all over his body which was removed after his worship at this shrine.
10. Kazhumalam: This is a shrine where all the sins of souls are washed away.
11. Piramapuram: This is a shrine where Lord Brahma offered worship.
12. ThONipuram: This shrine had the distinction of floating like a boat during the devastating flood at the end of the aeons.
