......... Meaning .........

Unath thasai thOlgaL sumandha kAyappOdhi: This bundle of a body carries destructible flesh and skin;

mAya migundha UsaR sudu nARu kurambai: this stinking little cottage is delusory, destined to rot and ultimately to be consumed by fire.

maRai nAlum Odhappadu nAlu mukandra nAl utridu kOlam ezhundhu: It took a lovely shape as determined by the four-headed BrahmA who is worshipped by the four vEdAs.

Odith thadumARi uzhandru thaLarvAgi: Then this body ran about, tottered, roamed around and got tired.

kUnith thadiyOdu nadandhu: It developed a hunch-back and leaned on a walking stick.

eenappadu kOzhai migundha kULach chadameedhai ugandhu: It became a waste basket containing disgusting phlegm and mucus; I became attached to this body!

buvimeedhE kUsap piramANa prapancha mAyak kodu nOygaL: On this earth, this body is destined to shamefully fall victim to many diseases arising out of worldly delusions;

agandru kOlak kazhalE peRa indru aruL vAyE: kindly rid me of these diseases and bless me to attain Your hallowed feet today!

sEnak guru kUdalil andru: Once, in Madhurai, confronting the SamaNa priests with the surname of "Senan"

nyAnath thamizh nUlgaLpagarndhu: You (coming as ThirugnAna Sambandhar) sang several erudite Tamil Songs (called ThEvAram),

sEnaich samaNOr kazhuvin kaN misai ERa: and saw to it that a host of SamaNa priests were sent to the gallows.

dheerath thiru neeRu purindhu: You distributed the powerful holy ash (Vibhuthi);

meenak kodiyOn udal thundru theemaip piNi theera uvandha gurunAthA: and graciously cured the evil fever that was afflicting the PANdiya King whose flag carries the fish symbol, Oh Master!

kAnach chiRumAnai ninaindhu: Thinking about the deer-like petite VaLLi, the damsel of the forest in VaLLimalai,

EnaRpuna meedhu nadandhu: You walked all the way to the millet field;

kAdhaR kiLiyOdu mozhindhu: You spoke to the lovely parrot-like belle, VaLLi;

silai vEdar kANak kaNiyAga vaLarndhu: right before the eyes of the hunters bearing the bows, You became a neem tree;

nyAna kuRamAnai maNandhu: and later, You wedded the wisest VaLLi, looking pretty like a deer.

kAzhip padhimEvi ugandha perumALE.: You chose SeegAzhi* as Your favourite abode, Oh Great One!
