kaRuvi mai ka(N) ittu inithu azhaiththu iyal kavi so(l)lic chiriththu uRavAdi: Feigning anger in their eyes coated with black pigment, they beckon (their suitors) lovingly and play with them reciting literary poems in Tamil and inventing several relationships;

kaLavu viththai ittu uLam urukki mun karuthi vaiththa vaippu avai sEra: resorting to many stealthy tricks, they melt their suitors' mind; after careful preplanning, they ensure that the entire wealth saved (by their suitors) is grabbed;

thaRu ka(N)Nil paRiththu iru kazhuththu uRath thazhuvi nekku nekku uyir sOra: after seizing their belongings in an evil manner, they hug so tightly that both their necks appear to become one; emotionally draining their life bit by bit,

** In a place known as PeNNAdakam, the Saivite Saint ThirugnAna Sambandhar worshipped Lord SivA and then proceeded on foot to ThiruvaraththuRai. Seeing him exhausted during the journey, Lord SivA presented him with a palanquin and an umbrella made of pearls for his comfort.
