kanRA vilangal onRu ARu kaNda kaNdA arampai maNavALA: When Mount Krouncha stood in Your way, You were so enraged that You wielded the spear opening up a passage in the mount! You are the consort of the celestial maid, DEvayAnai!

* ThiruchchengkOdu is in SAlem District of Tamil NAdu, 6 miles away from Sankaridurgam railway station. As the mount is reddish in colour, the name ThiruchchengkOdu -Red Hill- was given.

In Kandhar AlangkAram, Saint AruNagirinAthar sings about ChenkOdan (Murugan): to see His beauty, he wishes BrahmA, the Creator, had blessed him with 4,000 eyes!
