......... Meaning .........
gaganamu manilamu manalpunal nilamamai: The five elements, namely the cosmos, air, fire, water and earth, constitute this body.
kaLLap pulARki rumiveedu: It smells like rotten meat and is nothing but a house, full of germs.
kanalezha mozhitharu sinamena: Anger flares up during speech as if fiery sparks are set off;
madhamigu kaLvaiththa thORpai sumavAdhE: that leads to maddening rage, and the body becomes a leather bag filled up with the toxic liquor of delusion. Lest I carry this burden of my body,
yuga iRudhigaLilum iRudhiyil oruporuL: (I need) the unique substance that is immortal even at the end of the universe;
uLLakka NOkkum aRivURi: in order that the knowledge of SivagnAnam, gushing within myself like a fountain is perceived by mind's eye
oLithigazharuvuru venumaRai: that luminous substance, which has neither shape nor form, according to the scriptures,
yiRudhiyiluLLaththai nOkka aruLvAyE: and that which is seated at the pinnacle of those very scriptures; I want to behold that, namely You, with Your blessing!
mrugamadha parimaLa vigasitha naLinanaL: With the pleasant aroma of musk, on a fully-blossomed white lotus
vellaippirAtti iRaikANA: is seated Goddess Saraswathi, wearing white dress. Her Consort, BrahmA, was unable to see (the head or feet of) Lord SivA.
vidathara kudilasa dilamisai vegumuka veLLaththai yEtra padhivAzhvE: He contained the fierce poison in His throat; on His bent tresses, He carried the thousand-faced river Ganga; and You are the treasure of that SivA!
vaguLamu muguLitha vazhaigaLu malipuna: There are plenty of magizha trees and budding surapunnai trees in this millet-field at
vaLLik kulAththi girivAzhum: the famous mountain, VaLLimalai where she lives;
vanasarar marabinil varumoru marakatha: She hails from the hunter tribe and is of emerald complexion;
vaLLikku vAyththa perumALE.: for that VaLLi, You are the most befitting consort, Oh Great One!
