poyyoththa vAzhvu kaNdu mayalAki: I fell for this false life crazily;
kallukku nErum vanja vuLLaththar mElvi zhunthu: I was ensnared by the whores who were treacherous and stone-hearted,
kaLLappa yOtha ranga LudanmEvi: and passionately cuddled their bosom;
uyyappa dAmal ninRu: not seeking the way towards my deliverance,
kaiyarkku pAya monRu poyyarkku mEya yarnthu: I became drained in the company of cheats and the worst liars;
uLudainAyEn: I, the lowly dog, was completely breaking down inside.
uLLappe RAka ninRu thoyyappa dAma lenRum: I wish to feel the rarest opulence in my heart, without ever getting exhausted,

allaippo RAmu zhangu sollukra sEva lonRu: A Rooster (on Your staff) is fiercely crowing, unable to bear the darkness outside;
vellappa thAkai koNdathiRalvElA: You hold that triumphant staff in Your Hand, Oh valorous Lord with the Spear!
vaiyaththai yOdi yainthu kaiyaRku veesu thanthai: You flew around the entire world, but still the prized-fruit was awarded to the five-armed Ganapathi by Your Father, Lord SivA;
meyyoththa neethi kaNda periyOnE: (although He was unjust), You preached to Him the True PraNava ManthrA in the most righteous way, Oh Pre-eminent One!
