......... Meaning .........

thEthu ena vAsam utRa keetha vinOtha(m) mecchu thEn aLi cUzha moyththa malarAlE: Because of the bright and fragrant flowers around which beetles swarm raising a strange musical hum,

seeRum arA eyitRil URiya kALam vitta seetha nilA eRikkum analAlE: because of the fiery rays emitted by the cool moon that spews venom soaked in the fangs of infuriated cobras,

pOthanai neethi atRa vEthanai vALi thotta pOr matha rAjanukkum azhiyAthE: and because of the able warrior and God of Love, Manmathan, who shot flowery arrows on Brahma, Lord of the VEdAs, seated on a lotus and who lacked righteousness*, this young lass should not be destroyed;

pOkam e(l)lA niRaiththu mOka vidAy mikuththa pUvaiyai nee aNaikka vara vENum: instead, You should offer her plenty of pleasures in a variety of ways and come to embrace this girl who is deeply in love with You.

mAthinai vENi vaiththa nAthanum Othu pacchai mAyanum Atharikkum ayil veerA: Oh valorous One and the Holder of the spear, You are immensely liked by Lord SivA who holds the River Ganga on His matted hair and by Lord VishNu with the famous hue of emerald-green!

vAnavar sEnai mutRum vAzh amarApathikkuL vAraNamAna thaththai maNavALA: In IndrA's capital town, AmarAvathi, which is surrounded by the armies of the celestials, there lived a parrot-like damsel reared by an elephant called AirAvatham; and You are the consort of that DEvayAnai!

mEthiniyOr thazhaikkavE aruNAsalaththu veethiyin mEvi niRku(m) murukOnE: For the prosperity of the people of the world, You are seated with relish in the streets of ThiruvaNNAmalai, Oh MurugA!

mEruvai neeRu ezhuppi nAn mukanAr pathaththil vEl adaiyALam itta perumALE.: You shattered the Mount MEru to pieces and chained the ankles of Brahma with Your spear, Oh Great One!

* Brahma's unrighteousness: Despite the fact that He was the creator of the beautiful maid, ThilOththamai, in the celestial world, Brahma lustfully fitted Himself with an additional face to constantly stare at her; because of this incestuous act, He became unrighteous.

This song has been written in the Nayaka-Nayaki BhAva portraying the pangs of separation of the heroine from Lord Muruga.
The Love God, the flowery arrows and the moon are some of the sources which aggravate the agony of separation from the Lord.
