......... Meaning .........

iRuku maNi mulai maruvu tharaLamum eriyum umizh mathi nilavAlE: Because of the moonlight burning so blazingly that the pearl necklace upon the tight bosom spews fiery sparks,

ira(a)vi enathu uyir kavara varu kuzhal isaiyil uRu kadal alaiyAlE: because of the music flowing from the flute just to persecute me and steal my life, because of the roaring waves of the sea,

thaRukaN rathi pathi mathanan vidu kodu saramil eLiyenum azhiyAthE: and because of the evil arrows shot by the vile God of Love (Manmathan), the consort of Rathi, do not let this poor soul, namely myself, decay;

tharuNam maNi pozhil aruNai nakar uRai sayilam misaiyinil varavENum: (to save me) You must come at the appropriate time on the top of the hill in ThiruvaNNAmalai, surrounded by lovely groves!

muRuku thiri puram muRuku kanal ezha muRuval udaiyavar guru nAthA: He merely smiled and set fire to the streets of the evil place, Thiripuram; You are the Master of that Lord SivA!

mudiya kodu mudi asurar podipada muduku marakatha mayil veerA: All the demons living on the top of many mountains were destroyed and shredded to pieces when You flew over mounted on Your green peacock, Oh valorous One!

kuRavar mada makaL amutha kanathana kuvadu padum oru thiru mArpA: The innocent damsel of the hunters, VaLLi, hugged Your matchless broad chest with her nector-filled hill-like bosom, Oh Lord!

kodiya sudar ilai thanaiyum ezhu kadal kuRuka vidavala perumALE.: You are capable of wielding the fierce, leaf-shaped spear with such a force that the seven seas dried up, Oh Great One!

This song is based on the Nayaka-Nayaki Bhavam, where the poet, assuming the heroine's role, expresses the pang of separation from the hero, Murugan.
The moonlight, the music of the flute, the waves of the sea, the God of Love Manmathan and His flowery arrows are a few of the things that aggravate the agony of separation.
