ari ayan putpikkak kuzhumik koNdu amarar vanthikka: VishNu and BrahmA opened their flower-like mouth and stated their grievance; all those celestials who had assembled there prostrated at Your feet;

thattu uruvac chenRu avuNar angaththaik kuththi muRiththu: piercing the bodies of the demons, Your spear stabbed and chopped them down;

angu oru kOdi alakai ninRu oththith thiththi aRuththum: at that time, millions of devils stood there clapping with their hands to the meter of "thAm thiththi";

pala iyam kottac chakkadi katRu: they also tuned up many musical instruments giggling jeeringly among themselves;

anthariyudan patRik kucchari mecchumpadi pAdi: they joined in chorus with DurgA DEvi singing the Raga Gurjari in the most astonishing way;

pari mukam kakkac chekkaN vizhiththum: they opened their reddish eyes wide and sparks of fire were emitted like the vadavA muka agni (the inferno that spreads from the north pole on the doom's day);

saravaNan kacchi poRpan enap pin paraviyum: they worshipped You praising Your name in many ways as SaravaNan and the handsome Lord of KAnchipuram!

siththaththukku varath thoNdu adaivEnO: In order that I too could acquire that kind of devotion, will I be fortunate to serve You, Oh Lord?

periya thaN secchaik kacchu aNi veRpum: On Her large mountain-like bosom She wears tight blouse and applies cold paste of vermilion;

siRiya vanjik koththu eyththa nusuppum: Her slender waist is like the vanji (rattan reed) creeper;

prithi ozhinthu okkak kaikkiLai thuththam kural Athi pirivil kaNdu ikkappatta uruttum kamukamum: Her divine and vibrant voice never differentiates between many musical patterns, subdivided into shadjam, rishabam etc., (kaikkiLai, thuththam in Tamil Music*) nor does it show any preference to one kind of music; Her mastery in permutating the musical notes;

siRpac chithram urukkum pirathi aNdaththaip petRu aruL sitRu unthiyum: Her display of moving fine arts that is described in texts on the art of sculpture; Her petite and thin belly that has graciously delivered every planet in this universe;

neelak kariya koNdaRku oppiththa kathuppum: She has dark hair looking like dense black cloud;

thilakamum sem pon pattamum muththin kana vadam kattappatta kazhuththum: vermilion mark on Her forehead; reddish golden hair-band and pearl necklace adorning Her lovely neck;

thiruvAna karuNaiyum suththap pacchai vanappum: Divine compassion; and pure green complexion;

karuthum anparkkuc chiththi aLikkum kavuri ampaikku puthra evarkkum perumALE.: for all the devotees who meditate on Her, She offers liberation; and She is Mother Gowri (PArvathi), and You are Her son! You are the Lord of all, Oh Great One!
