kadaluL vanjiththup pukkathu or kokkum podiyAkak kaRuvu sem saththip pathma karaththan: You have the lotus-like hand that held the reddish and powerful spear which annihilated with rage the demon SUran hiding in the sea, lurking with a treacherous motive, in the disguise of a unique mango tree;

kumaran enRu arcchiththu appadi seppum kavi mozhinthu aththaik katRu aRa utRum: Oh KumarA!" - so saying, people worship You, singing poems about Your glory, and immerse themselves in those songs with full understanding of their meaning;
