maruk kula(m) mEvum kuzhal kani vAy veN mathip piLavu Akum nuthalAr tham: Their hair is sprayed with many varieties of fragrances; their mouth is reddish like the kovvai fruit; the forehead of these whores is like the white crescent moon;

mayakkinilE naNpu uRap paduvEn un malark kazhal pAdum thiRa(n) nAdAth tharukkan: befriending them under the delusion of passion, I am arrogant without seeking ways to sing the glory of Your lotus feet;

uthAram thuNukku ili lOpan samaththu aRiyA anpu ili mUkan: I do not have even an iota of charitable thought; (instead) I am filled with stinginess; I am bereft of any ability or love; I am a stupid and dumb fellow;

thalaththinilE vanthu uRap paNiyAtha(va)n: I never visit Your abodes (like ThiruththaNigai) to offer worship with devotion;

thanakku iniyAr tham sapai thArAy: (despite all these shortcomings,) kindly bestow upon me the good fortune of joining the assembly of Your dear devotees!

kuruk kula rAjan thanakku oru thUthan kuRaL pela mAyan nava neetham kuRiththu ayil nEyan: He went as the unique messenger of Dharman, the King of the Kuru Dynasty; He went in the disguise of a dwarf (to see Emperor MahAbali); He is an expert mystic capable of many miracles; He knew where His favourite butter was stored and gobbled it up;

thirup payil mArpan kuNa thraya nAthan marukOnE: on His hallowed chest, Goddess Lakshmi is concorporate; He is the Leader presiding over the three attributes [namely, sathwam (tranquility), rAjasam (aggressiveness) and thAmasam (sluggishness)]; You are the nephew of that Lord VishNu!
