sinamAga sirippavar thamakkum: to those who with rage jeer at Your devotees,

pazhippavar thamakkum: and to those who abuse Your devotees,

thiruppugazh neruppendr aRivOm yAm: songs of "the Glory of the Lord" feel like Fire and destroy them; we know it is true.

ninaiththadhum aLikkum: These songs grant Your devotees all their wishes;

manaththaiyum urukkum: they melt the minds of the singers and the listeners;

nisikkaru aRukkum piRavAmal: they terminate any future births and confinement in dark wombs;

neruppaiyum erikkum: they are capable of burning even the fire itself; and
