vidam adaisu vElai amarar padai sUlam: The sea filled with poison, the weapon of the celestials, the trident,

visaiyan vidu pANam enavE thAn: and the arrow shot by Vijayan (Arjunan) - these are comparable to

vizhiyum athi pAra vithamum udai mAthar: the eyes of the whores who are endowed with heavy bosom;

vinaiyin viLaivu Ethum aRiyAthE: not knowing anything about the miseries caused by their treacherous acts,

kadi ulavu pAyal pagal iravu enAthu: I have been lying on their fragrant beds, day and night indiscriminately;

kalavi thanil mUzhki vaRithAya kayavan aRivu eenan: I am a base and stupid person, having indulged with them in carnal pleasure and become impoverished;

ivanum uyar needu kazhal iNaikaL sEra aruLvAyE: (despite my shortcomings) kindly bless me also to attain Your hallowed feet!

iRaivan makaL vAymai aRiyAthE: She was DEvaki, the daughter of King UgrasEnan who was unable to foresee the true happenings (meaning, the eventual destruction of all the demons sent by Kamsan to kill KrishNan);

ithayam mika vAdi udaiya pi(L)Lai nAtha enu nAmam muRai kURa: She became very depressed and prayed to You saying "Oh Lord Ganapathy, kindly protect my child!"; and she chanted Your many names in an orderly manner. (Acceding to her prayer,)

idaiyar siRu pAlai thirudi ko(N)du pOka: (this line is transposed here for prose order) to enable Krishna to steal small quantities of milk from the cowherds (in other words, to steal their pure hearts);

adaiyalavar Avi veruva adi kUra asalum aRiyAmal avar Oda: to take such powerful strides as to scare away the enemies who (heard His steps and) fled away without anyone seeing them flee;

akalvathu enadA sol enavum mudi sAda: to challenge the runaways as to where they were fleeing to and to knock down their heads;

aRivu aruLum Anai mukavOnE.: You granted (Krishna) the requisite knowledge, Oh Ganapathi with the elephant-face!
