Meanings
intro pt1 - 'Om SARAVANABAVA Om'
This is known as the SADAKSHARA mantra - the mantra with SIX syllabus.
Om = (I wish to) have the 'union' (divine relationship) with SARAVANABAVA = the One Who appeared at Saravanapoigai (a spring/lake) - Lord Murugan.
(according to 'Kandha Puranam', the sparks which came from Lord Siva's third eye, were transformed to the SIX faced (child) Muruga when they reached the Spring/Lake known as 'Saravana Poigai').
intro pt2 - 'aruvamum uruvamAgi'
(this is a verse in the 'Kandha Puranam' ref: 1-11-92)
The One that is formless took a form.
That One which has no beginning (nor end).
Which is of several forms and also of One form
(which is) The Eternal Knowledge, standing as the
ray of intense light. With six faces radiating compassion
and twelve arms, He rises (appears) as The One, Thiru Murugan,
(Lord Murugan), for this world to flourish.
'aingkaran sOdharanE' - The Kaumaram Theme Song
You are the younger brother of the five-armed GanEshA, ... You are the six-faced One, Oh MurugA (the Handsome One), Oh KumarA (the Youthful One), ... Oh Lord, we praise You! You show the light to remove the darkness of mAyA (illusion), You are the hero of action, ... we praise You!
You are the essence of Om, the PraNavA manthrA! You are the remover of karmA. You bless Your devotees who sing Your praises with love, ... we praise You!
With a beautiful smile, You mount the blue peacock and appear with DeivayAnai and VaLLi, ... we praise You! Holding the valorous spear and the rooster-flag of success, You show up when the six-letter manthrA (SaravaNabhavA) sounds, ... we praise You!
The sight of Your flower-adorned Holy Feet, grants happiness in both worlds (this and after lives), ... we praise You! You are the giver of the Tamizh language, You are our Beloved! You are the Head of KaumAram, ... we praise You, ... we praise You!
